A romantic scene on Dam Duoc Islet on Ba Hon Dam Island off Kien Giang Province.

Starting from the landmark on Heo Islet in Son Hai Commune, Kien Luong District, Ba Lua

Archipelago includes 40 islands and islets such as Heo, Loc Coc, Ba Lua, Nua, Doi Truong, Re Nho, Nhum and Son, of which Ba Hon Dam Island is the stand out.

If you are in the area, the cheapest way is taking a motorbike ride to Ba Hon Town then catching a boat to the island.

However, tourists need to arrive at Heo Islet by boat at 11 a.m. or 6:30 p.m. first then continue on another boat to Ba Hon Dam at 6 a.m. or 2:30 p.m. They also need to be willing to make it an overnight stay due to the spread boat times.

Another way is hiring a fishing boat from local fishermen to reach the island. However, this way requires tourists to not only know the geography of the archipelago but to be able sailors to protect themselves on the sea.

Ba Hon Dam Island has Dam Duoc, Dam Duing and Dam Gieng islets which lie in a triangular shape, falling into Ha Tien Bay.

A sandy beach on Dam Duong.

Dam Duoc, covering 12 hectares, is where tourists can roll up their sleeves to catch seafood for their parties. There are many shaded areas set up along the beach for visitors to relax on hammocks and enjoy the scenery.

Dam Duoc has large malabar almond trees and flamboyant flower clusters over the sky line making for a romantic spot. Mam and duoc trees were born to give some shaded cover for the island.

However, to admire the most beautiful sandy beach, travelers need to move on foot to Dam Duong. Tourists can wade from Dam Duoc to Dam Duong for about 300 meters.

Maybe the feeling of fear will come to tourists. A tip is to walk on places where there is white color as this is a sign that rock and sand are underneath and it is safe to walk on. Also, admiring sunsets will make for good memories at Dam Gieng. The island has no modern facilities so tourists need to bring medicine, water, snacks and clothing.

Travelers can stay at guest houses on the island and ask locals to make them food. However, grabbing a catch and having a party by yourselves is popular with tourists.
