VietNamNet Bridge – Fourteen officials in Hong Dan district, the southern province of Bac Lieu, have been disciplined for using false high-school diplomas.

These officials used faked diplomas in order to maintain their posts. Their case has been prosecuted.

Tran Quoc Ky, chair of Hong Dan District Party Committee’s Inspection Division, said that these officials had to serve as a warning from the local Party Committee.

The committee has instructed grassroots Party Cells to discipline nearly 20 other officials who were discovered using false diplomas.

According to Ky, even senior officials also used false diplomas, including the vice chair of the Hong Dan District Party Committee’s Inspection Division, the vice chair of the Hong Dan District Party Committee’s Office, the vice chair of the Hong Dan District Farmers’ Association and the vice chair of the district’s culture department.

Hong Dan district’s vice chief police officer, lieutenant-colonel Nguyen Tri Dung, said that police detected officials who used false high-school diplomas and five men who sold fake diplomas. Legal proceeding has been conducted.

According to the police officer, officials declared that they paid 8-10 million dong ($400-500) for a fake diploma.
