VietNamNet Bridge – Two dog thieves who shot an official of Bac Ninh Province dead have been prosecuted. In related news, police of Nghe An province have also prosecuted five dog thieves.

According to Bac Ninh authorities, the two dog thieves who were wanted for shooting dead a local official have surrendered. They are Nguyen Van Hien (born in 1979, from Bac Ninh City) and Nguyen Duc Bien (born in 1985, from Que Vo district, Bac Ninh).
Earlier, at 6.45am on October 23, a murder occurred in An Huy new residential area in Bac Ninh City. The victim was Mr. Nguyen Trung Hieu (born in 1982), an official of the Office of Bac Ninh People's Committee, who was shot dead by dog thieves.
According to the witnesses, that morning Hieu chained his dog to a tree in front of his house, then going back into the house for cleaning. Suddenly, he heard a motorbike stopping outside the door but did not see anyone entering the house. Hieu ran out to see what happened and discovered two men stealing his dog. Hieu chased after them and called local people for help.

Unfortunately, the two thieves drew a gun to shoot Hieu. The victim died on the spot.
The police identified the two suspects as Hien and Bien. They also arrested two people for not denouncing crime, including Nguyen The Anh, 36, and Nguyen Van Quang, 27.
In Nghe An province, the police of Hung Nguyen district launched a project to hunt gangs of dog thieves. They arrested 12 people and prosecuted 5 of them.
According to Hung Nguyen’s police, since early 2012, this gang made 106 dog thefts across the district, making local people’s angriness.
