According to the ministry, the chicken feet were imported by Quang Ninh Seafood processing and exporting Ltd Co through Hai Phong Port. They were reported to be processed for export.
However, after testing samples, authorities found the meat was spoiled and even rotten. Some micro-organisms were in excess of food safety standards.
The meat also carried no details of production date, expiry date and origin.
The department organised a meeting with the importer, but it received no response, reported Dat Viet newspaper.
Moreover, the spoiled meat was later carried out of the port without permission of the department.
Minister Phat asked relevant bodies to crack down on those responsible. He called for Customs Administration to confirm the current location of the products.
