VietNamNet Bridge – Viet Nam’s top badminton player Nguyen Tien Minh will start the new year by competing in the Super Series South Korea Open from January 3-8 in Seoul.

Olympian Minh will be Viet Nam’s sole representative at the five-day event and is likely to be seeded No 7.
The draw will take place on December 20.
Minh will then go on to compete in the Malaysia Open from January 10-15.
* Ba Ra mountain climbing marathon to take place in January
The Ba Ra Mountain Climbing Marathon is scheduled to take place from January 4-7 in Phuoc Long Town in the southern province of Binh Phuoc.
The event, which will draw hundreds of runners, is a warm up for the Tien Phong (Vanguard) newspaper marathon in March in the central Hue City.
Male athletes will compete over 7.7km while female competitors will be racing a 5.4km course.
* Thousands ready for charity walk to raise money for poor
More than 10,000 people are expected to participate in the Lawrence S Ting Charity Walk in HCM City on January 7 next year to raise money for the poor as part of the celebrations for Tet (Lunar New Year).
Participants will walk around 2km in Phu My Hung new urban area in District 7.
The tournament has attracted more than 84,000 participants over the past six years, raising more than VND9 billion (US$420,000).
