The white Ban or Bauhinia flower is in full bloom across the mountains and hills of north-western Vietnam, with the flush of blossoms drawing a huge number of tourists.
The flower is considered a symbol of the Northwest region. Travellers can visit Sa Long commune in Muong Cha district or Keo Lom of Dien Bien Dong district to find views of the beautiful Ban flowers, which symbolise a faithful and eternal love. This year, the fifth Ban Flower Festival 2018 is scheduled to take place on March 17. Not only beautiful to look at, the flower is used to cook delicacies of Thai ethnic people, such as sticky rice with Ban flowers, fried Ban with bamboo shoots, Ban soup, and Ban flower salad. |
