The Viet Nam Tennis Federation has decided to wipe Ly Hoang Nam's ban from all tennis competitions from December 31.

After refusing to play for the national team twice, Viet Nam's No 1 player Nam, was banned from all domestic events by the end of 2016.

Following the decision, Nam couldn't attend the 17th Asian Games in South Korea in September.

The good news for 17-year-old Nam is that he has jumped 12 places in the ITF junior rankings to No 70.

In March, Nam was in the world's top 50. 

Table tennis event pings off in capital

The National Top Players Table Tennis Tournament is scheduled to kick off tomorrow at Ha Noi's Cau Giay Gymnasium.

The event, which will run until Sunday, will attract the participation of the country's top male and female athletes.

Last year, Dinh Quang Linh of the Military team took the men's title, while Mai Hoang My Trang of HCM City triumphed in the women's event. 

VN to host women's football champs

Viet Nam are to host next year's ASEAN Football Federation Women's Championship.

The games are expected to begin in May in HCM City, with the participation of eight teams.

The teams are to be divided into two groups. The hosts will be in Group B with Myanmar, Malaysia and the Philippines. While Group A consists of Thailand, Australia, Indonesia and Laos.

Teams will compete in a round robin format at the group stage, with the two best teams advancing to the semi-finals.

Can Tho agree contract with Buu

V-League side XSKT Can Tho signed a three-year contract with goalkeeper Tran Buu Ngoc on Monday.

The 1.93m tall player will receive a transfer fee of VND6.6 billion (US314,000) and a monthly salary of VND35million ($1,600).

"I am very pleased with the contract signed with Can Tho. In addition to good treatment, I will have the chance to live near my home," the Dong Thap Province native said.

Ngoc, who made his international debut for Viet Nam in a match against Hong Kong last year, will gather with his new team tomorrow to prepare for the new football season.
