The online exhibition, themed “Invasion of the lens: Culture resistance and aesthetic”, features a number of impressive images taken by 12 outstanding photographers from Indonesia, Taiwan (China), Japan, Poland, the United States, the Republic of Korea (RoK), and Vietnam.
According to the organising board, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic has caused the event to be held in an online format. Visitors are able to log on http://galerisoemardja.itb.ac.id/bps to admire the amazing artworks on show, all of which strive to reflect issues faced by people in contemporary society.
Vietnamese photographer Phan Quang was born in Binh Dinh province in 1976. Over the past decade he has worked as a photojournalist for some of Asia’s best-known media outlets, including Forbes, the New York Times, and the Vietnam Economic Times. At present he is employed as a photography lecturer at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities in Ho Chi Minh City.
Meanwhile, Nguyen The Son is a visual artist, a photographer, curator, and a lecturer of Vietnam Fine Arts University who is currently residing in Hanoi. His works are largely influenced by sociological research, with the aim of questioning and reflecting on humanity’s broken or disappearing memories. During his career, Son has organized a total of 20 solo exhibitions and group exhibitions domestically and abroad, including in the US, the UK, France, Sweden, the Netherlands, Germany, and the RoK.
