VietNamNet Bridge – The Performing Arts Agency has allowed Bang Kieu, a famous singer of the overseas Vietnamese community, to perform in Vietnam from October to December, 2012.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nhan, an official of the Performing Arts Agency, said that the agency hadconsidered carefully and granted a performing licence to Bang Kieu and another famous singer - Khanh Ly - on September 24, concurrent licensing Khanh Ly.

The license is valid from now through December 2012. The firm that invited Bang Kieu to Vietnam has applied for permits for Bang Kieu’s shows in HCM City, Danang and Hanoi in October. The show contents will be strictly censored.

Earlier, on September 15, Bang Kieu and his wife, former singer Trizzie Phuong Trinh are now in Ho Chi Minh City to meet with the organizers to discuss the program. The guests in Bang Kieu’s shows will be two divas - My Linh, Hong Nhung - and overseas singer Minh Tuyet. These are all close friends of Bang Kieu.

On online forums, the audience lively discusses about Bang Kieu’s return and his upcoming shows. Many people posted his old songs as a way to support their idol.

Bang Kieu was born in 1973 in Hanoi, in a family of art tradition. He studied Bassoon trumpet at the Hanoi Conservatory but he is widely known as a singer.

Bang Kieu used to be a member of the Golden Key, Milky Flower, Watermelon bands and then operated as a solo singer. He is a famous singer with a tenor voice.

In 2002 he settled in the United States and married with singer Trizzie Phuong Trinh. Due to his controversial statements, he lost the Vietnamese citizenship status at the end of 2004. In 2008, Bang Kieu returned to Vietnam for the first time. He is now an exclusive singer of the Thuy Nga Center.
