VietNamNet Bridge – A 50m long iron bridge spanning the river of Cho Dem, in Binh Chanh district, Ho Chi Minh City was pulled down by a 900-ton barge, which was running from HCM City to Long An on July 12.

Because of the accident, people have to take a detour of 5 kilometers or get a barge 1 kilometer from there to cross the river.

No one was on the bridge at the time of the incident. It took nearly one day to release the barge.

The Ca Tam bridge was built in 2008 by local people at the cost of nearly VND3 billion ($150,000). It is 3m wide, 50m long, and located near a primary school.
