According to the Vietnam Government Portal (VGP), this is a follow-up activity of the beauty contest 2005 held for young women living with HIV or with disabilities by the Hanoi Youth with Disability Association, in cooperation with the Centre for Supporting Community Development Initiatives (SCDI), the Sustainable Health Development Centre (VietHealth) and the Centre for Creative Initiatives in Health and Population (CCIHP).

With the slogan “for an integrated society without barriers and for the rights of people with disabilities,” the contest aims to highlight the inner beauty of disabled people and non-discrimination against them, said the organising board.

“The Crescent’s Beauty 2013” encourages all young disabled women with ages ranging from 18-30 in Vietnam to participate in.

Launched in October last year, it has attracted more than 70 contestants from different ethnic groups nationwide.

The final round will be held from April 15-17. The top 10 will compete for the crown in the night of April 18.
