VietNamNet Bridge – Thousands of people flocked to a road in the southern province of Long An on December 1 and the morning of December 2 to pick up stones as they believed those were gold.

Local police said that the 20-km provincial road 838, which runs from Tan Thanh town to My Thanh Bac in Duc Hue district, Long An province, was stuck on December 1 and the morning of December 2 when thousands of locals flocked to the road to pick up yellow stones.

The road is under construction. Builders on December 1 covered the road surface with stones. When stones were broken under rollers, they sparked in the sunlight. Some people thought that the stones contained gold so they went to the road to pick them up.

The rumor quickly spread in the region so locals flocked to the road to pick up stones.

On December 1 afternoon, some people brought the stones to goldsmith’s stores for testing and they found out the truth. However, many people still picked up the stones because they look… beautiful.
