VietNamNet Bridge – Downpours and whirlwinds swept over Binh Dai district of the southern province of Ben Tre on May 4, damaging tens of houses and injuring 28 people.

Nguyen Dinh Chieu Hospital in Ben Tre city on May 4 received tens of people who were injured when their houses collapsed in whirlwinds.

Two of them suffered from brain injuries, 14 others got head, stomach traumas and bones broken.

According to victims, on the afternoon of the same day downpours and whirlwinds rushed down, damaging more than 270 houses, with 24 collapsing completely.

28 people could not run away in time. They were injured when iron-cast roofs fell onto them. As injuries were serious, over half of them, including three kids and two old people were transported to Nguyen Dinh Chieu Hospital for emergency aid.

Nearly 200 soldiers, police officers and militia were sent to assist local people.
