VietNamNet Bridge – French photography director Benoit Delhomme is one of the members of the YxineFF international online short film festival jury this year in International Competition category. Vietnamese-French Tran Anh Hung is the president of the jury.

The jury also has other renowned names including producer Ngoc Thi Bich Hanh, writer Phan Viet and actress Ngo Thanh Van. The jury in International Competition will decide seven awards, including Golden Heart Award for Best Film and six Individual Awards.

Delhomme, born in Paris in 1961, lived in the “Ville Nouvelle” of Sarcelles during the 60’s, then spent the 70’s in Cherbourg (Normandy) where his father worked as a surgeon. He started to study cinema in the beginning of the 80’s in Paris at Sorbonne Nouvelle, and at the Ecole Louis Lumière where he specialized in cinematography.

Delhomme’s early major works as director of photography are the two movies he shot for director Tran Anh Hung, including Scent of Green Papaya and Cyclo. Following the critical success of these two films, he has since built a strong international filmography working with acclaimed directors.

 Delhomme is also pursuing a personal work as a painter in parallel of his cinema work. He now lives and works between Paris, London, Los Angeles, New York and Berlin.

“I expect to see films which will excite my imagination and inspire me and I expect to be surprised by innovative storytelling and fresh and simple ways of using a camera,” said Delhomme in a statement, adding that he is not interested in technical perfection but in true emotions.

YxineFF 2014 calls for entries in three months from early April to late June. All Vietnamese and international filmmakers can submit films in any type, with duration not longer than 60 minutes, in four categories: International Competition, Local Competition, Panorama and In Focus. The fifth film fest will open on September 19 and the closing and award ceremony is planned to be in December.

YxineFF 2014 continues to hand out the following awards Golden Heart, Red Heart, Green Heart, Fire Heart, Rainbow Heart and Vietnamese Heart, as well as other individual awards in International Competition.
