The Phuoc Son Gold Mining Company restarted gold extraction at the Dak Sa Gold Mine in Phuoc Son district, central Quang Nam province, on August 17 after a two-year closure.
VietNamNet Bridge – Besra, the gold miner from Canada, imported 60 tons of counterfeit cyanide from China, local authorities have discovered.
A Besra Group representative said on September 29 that while waiting to settle tax debts with relevant agencies, the Group would formally restore its production at the Bong Mieu gold mine from September 30 after more than two months of closure.
While the Quang Nam provincial Taxation Agency insists on the coercive measures to force Besra to pay tax arrears, the Ministry of Financethinks that it would be better to “be sympathetic towards the investor”.
VietNamNet Bridge – The Finance Ministry wants the two largest gold factories – Bong Mieu and Phuoc Son in the central province of Quang Nam - to resume operation. However, local tax authorities have not agreed.
