At the reception, Do Quang Hien - Founder and Executive Chairman of T&T Group - warmly welcomed the King and Queen of Bhutan and their accompanying delegation.
Do Quang Hien shared an overview of T&T Group and SHB Bank’s operations. T&T Group is one of Vietnam's leading multi-sector private economic groups, employing over 80,000 staff and encompassing more than 200 subsidiaries, joint ventures, and affiliates. Its core business sectors span finance and investment, real estate, clean energy, logistics, transport infrastructure including seaports and aviation, and agriculture - all of which are considered essential pillars of the national economy.

Among its key ventures, SHB Bank ranks among Vietnam’s top five largest private joint-stock commercial banks, with charter capital of approximately 40.7 trillion VND (about 1.6 billion USD) and total assets nearing 825 trillion VND (around 33 billion USD) as of June 30, 2025. On the stock exchange, SHB’s market capitalization has exceeded 3 billion USD and is listed on the VN30 index of blue-chip stocks.
Do Quang Hien expressed a strong desire to explore economic, trade, and investment collaborations with Bhutan in areas of mutual strength, such as spiritual tourism, high-quality organic agriculture, science and technology, and innovation.

Highlighting the aviation sector, Hien noted that T&T Group owns Vietravel Airlines and proposed opening a direct flight route between Bhutan and Vietnam through cooperation with Bhutan Airlines. This initiative aims to enhance not only tourism and logistics but also bilateral trade and cultural exchange between Bhutan and Vietnam, and between Bhutan and Southeast Asia more broadly.
To support spiritual tourism potential, T&T Group is also investing in key infrastructure such as the Quang Tri Airport project, in combination with Vietravel Airlines, to develop specialty tourism offerings. This is seen as a key foundation for cultural and religious exchange and collaboration in spiritual tourism between the two nations.

King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck expressed joy in visiting T&T Group during such a significant time for Vietnam. He thanked the group’s leadership for the warm welcome and highly appreciated T&T Group’s cooperation proposals, seeing them as great opportunities to strengthen socio-economic development and the friendly bilateral relationship between Bhutan and Vietnam.
The King also introduced Bhutan’s “Mindfulness City” - a large-scale smart urban development project requiring major infrastructure such as international airports and terminals, along with vast demand for building materials and equipment. Bhutan is seeking international cooperation and resources to ensure the project’s sustainability and effectiveness.
He further highlighted Bhutan’s commitment to digital economic growth, particularly in the realm of digital assets, an area where Vietnam has already passed legislation and is preparing to launch digital asset trading platforms.

This state visit from the King and Queen of Bhutan holds symbolic importance, reflecting Bhutan’s respect for its friendship and cooperation with Vietnam, as well as recognition of Vietnam’s regional role and influence. It also reaffirms Vietnam’s foreign policy of independence, multilateralism, and diversification, promoting peace, cooperation, and development.
Diplomatic relations between Bhutan and Vietnam were established on January 19, 2012, and have since developed positively. Vietnam regards Bhutan as a leading nation in green growth and sustainable development, while Bhutan considers Vietnam a priority partner and a model for socio-economic progress.
Both countries hold vast potential for deepening cooperation in agriculture, tourism, culture, education, science and technology, digital transformation, and sustainable development.
T&T Group’s representative highlighted Bhutan’s rare global status as a carbon-negative nation and its green development strategy. This aligns with T&T Group’s Net Zero vision, as demonstrated through its renewable energy, eco-urban, and green city initiatives. These synergies open the door for broad cooperation in infrastructure, construction, energy, and smart green cities - fields where T&T Group has already proven its capabilities domestically and internationally.
With strong financial resources, multi-sector experience, and a strategic focus on digital assets, T&T Group is well-positioned to expand its global partnerships and deliver large-scale projects in the future.
