VietNamNet Bridge - VTV6 and BHD Company have announced plans to produce the Vietnam version of the world famous TV reality show Big Brother. The show will be directed by Nguyen Quang Dung with the name “Nguoi Giau Mat” (The Hidden).

The show will start the mobile selection round in six provinces and cities from September and will be aired every night from mid-November on VTV6 channel.

Launched for the first time in 1999, Big Brother has become a phenomenon of the television industry in the world with more than 40 versions worldwide, aired in over 100 countries with more than 2 billion viewers each year.

Big Brother is a reality game show franchise created by John de Mol. The premise of the show is that there is a group of people that are housemates or houseguests living together in a large, usually specially constructed house. During their time in the house they are isolated from the outside world and are not commonly aware of outside events. Contestants are continuously monitored by in-house television cameras as well as personal audio microphones during their stay.

Director Nguyen Quang Dung said the entire program will be recorded in 65 days. Candidates will be completely isolated, without phone, internet, newspapers and no privacy. Every act, every word of them will be recorded by 30 cameras placed throughout the house 24/7.

The people in the house and audience will decide who will leave and who will stay in the house. Every week, members of the house will elect two or more people that they want to be eliminated, and then the audience will decide the name to leave the house. The last in the house, after overcoming hardship will win VND2 billion ($100,000) prize.
