VietNamNet Bridge – A Buddha statue made of precious sapphire of millions of years old -- sourced from Chau Thanh Commune of Quy Hop District, Nghe An Province has been recognized as a national record.

According to venerable Thich Hue Thong, head of the Buddhist Shangha of Binh Duong Province, the Buddha entering Nirvana sapphire statue of with a weight of 35 tons, a length of 4.2 m in Hoi An pagoda in the city of Binh Duong established a record as the largest Buddha statue of Vietnam on April 19.

The statue was brought to the temple of Hoi An on January 31, 2013 and it is call "Ky Lam Ngoc Phat" (sapphire Buddha).

The statue was assessed by the DOJI Institute for Gem Studies and Jewelry. The institute affirmed that the statue is made of precious stones of dark green color, which has a hardness of 8.5-9 degrees (only after diamond).
