At the April 18 trading session, Techcombank share (TCB) prices continued to drop below VND48,000 per share. The prices of shares have been going flat in the last year and weakening, from the highest peak of VND56,000 per share to VND44,850.

Though price decreases were not too sharp, the gradual decrease caused the stock assets of billionaire Ho Hung Anh, TCB’s chair, to fall by 20 percent to $2.4 billion as of April 18.

With these assets, Anh fell to the fourth position on the list of the richest stock billionaires. Pham Nhat Vuong is still leading the list of billionaire with stock asset value of $6.4 billion. Number two belongs to Bui Thanh Nhon with $3.5 billion. Meanwhile, Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao is in the third position with $3 billion and Tran Dinh Long in the fourth position with $2.9 billion.

Novaland (NVL) prices have increased sharply recently, helping Nhon become the second richest billionaire in the stock market.

Billionaire Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao has also seen her assets increase again as Vietjet share prices have recovered following the full tourism reopening.

Techcombank has been maintaining high growth rates. However, bank shares in general have been bearing selling pressure recently.

At the April 18 trading session, most bank shares saw prices decrease. LienViet Post Bank share prices hit the floor level, while others saw price decreases of over 5 percent.

The capitalization value of the banking sector dropped by $2.5 billion just after one trading session.

The documents of the 2022 general meeting of shareholders showed that Techcombank continued a contractionary policy and was gathering strength for development over the last decade.

As of the end of 2021, the total cumulative distributable profit of Techcombank had reached VND40.1 trillion as the bank did not pay dividends in cash for 11 consecutive years.

SHB owned by Do Quang Hien has also been under pressure of decreases, though SSI Research estimated that SHB’s Q1 profit would increase by 92 percent to VND3.2 trillion.

The bank has set a 87 percent growth rate in profit in 2022.

In the last five months, SHB share prices have fallen by 24 percent, pushing Hien down to the 120th position on the list of the richest billionaires with VND1.36 trillion.

The list of top 20 billionaires still includes bank owners: Do Anh Tuan (KLB), Ho Hung Anh (TCB), Nguyen Dang Quang (TCB), Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao (HDB), Nguyen Duc Thuy (LPB), Ngo Chi Dung (VPB) and Hoang Anh Minhh (VPB).
