VietNamNet BridgeAbout 10,450 households in Ha Noi have been given an average of US$390 so far this year to help them pay their vital bills.

The money, an aid package from municipal authorities totalling VND85 billion ($4.1 million), was to lift them over the poverty, said the Department of Labour, Invalid and Social Affairs deputy director Le Tuan Huu on Wednesday.

Municipal authorities will add another VND150 billion ($7.3 million) to move another 13,500 households out of poverty.

There are still some 116,000 households categorised as poor and about 55,000 households as nearly-poor in the capital.
