Playing on home court at the city’s Youth Tennis Centre, Binh was shocked when she lost 6-2 in the first set to tough rival Tran Thi Tam Hao from HCM City.
However, Binh then gained her momentum to tie the game with a 6-4 win in the second set before completing the final with a 6-4 win in the third set.
Binh also celebrated her triumph at the national championship when she took the women’s double title with teammate Do Thi Dan Thi.
Da Nang’s women’s duo beat HCM City’s Tran Thi Thanh Truc and Si Boi Ngoc 6-1, 6-2.
In the men’s final yesterday, top player Hoang Nam cruised to a 6-1, 6-3 win over Hoang Thanh Trung of Police.
Nam and his teammate Nguyen Van Phuong also swept the men’s double crown after an easy 6-3, 6-1 win over Truong Thanh Giang and Le Quoc Khanh of HCM City.
In the mixed doubles final yesterday, Le Quoc Khanh and Tran Thi Tam Hao of HCM City had a tough game against Tran Thanh Hoang and Nguyen Tu Kim Ngan of Military.
The Saigonese duo won 6-3 in the first set, but they lost 6-2 in the second set, and the final needed a tie-break to decide the winner. Khanh and Hao produced a better performance to win 10-5 in a tie-break series to take the trophy home.
The national team will choose the top form players for prolonged training sessions in preparation for big tournaments in Asia and the world ahead.
