VietNamNet Bridge – A farmer set an electric trap on his field to prevent rats from destroying his rice. However, that farmer was electrocuted by his own trap.

Electric traps have become latest dangers for farmers.

That occasional accident occurred in the morning of July 31 in Phu Cat district of the central province of Binh Dinh. The victim is Mr. Nguyen Thanh Tan, 61.

Tan’s family said that he left his home in the early morning of that day to pump water into the field. Until noon, he did not return home. Family members went to the field to search for Tan and found out his body in the field.

Local police investigated the death and concluded that Tan was electrocuted by his own electric trap.

According to Tan’s family, as their field was destroyed by rats, Tan made an electric trap by himself. The trap was created by bamboo sticks and barbed wires. The trap was connected to the grid from Tan’s house.

Earlier, Mr. Nguyen Van Duong, 26, in Phu My district of Binh Dinh province, was electrocuted by the electric trap of his neighbor on July 13.
