VietNamNet Bridge - The mother locked her children in the house for five days and then threatened to use a sickle to kill a child. Twenty-five policemen broke the door to rescue the kids.

Colonel Phan Cong Binh, police chief of Hoai An District, Binh Dinh Province, said that in the afternoon of April 23, the police broke the door and the window to break into the home of Mrs. Nguyen Thi Hoa, 35, in An Hao Tay Commune, Hoai An district, controlled her to rescue her four children.

Earlier, from April 19 through 23, Mrs. Hoa locked her home to confine her children (from 6 to 15 years old) in the home. She threatened to kill a child by a sickle.

Despite all the advice of her family, neighbors and the local officials, she resolutely "held her ground." Whenever seeing someone who tried to approach her kids, she raised a sickly, threatening to kill them.

She said she was instructed by the "superior" to kill one of her four children, but she loved all of them so she could not choose whom to kill.

The local police sent 25 policemen to the site to rescue the kids. At the time the kids were rescued, the mother and her children were almost exhausted because they did not eat anything for several days.

Shortly thereafter, Hoa was forced for treatment at a mental hospital in the province. The children were handed over to Hoa’s parents-in-law.

Reportedly, Hoa’s family is considered as a poor household. Her husband died in a traffic accident in 2012. She was born in Quy Nhon city, BinhDinh province. Her younger brother is a mental patient. Hoa showed unusual manifestations before the incident.
