While Binh Duong defeated Hoang Anh Gia Lai 3-1, Hai Phong also trounced Dong Tam Long An with the same result, both on their home ground.

Coming to Go Dau Stadium without Nigerian star Anjembe Tymothy, Hoang Anh Gia Lai met with many difficulties against the hosts, who welcomed them with their full strength, and were eyeing the top place at the national premier league.

Tymothy was not in the list, as the team managers could not support him, following the troubles that he had created. He is presently the leading score of the V-League, with nine goals.

His absence strongly affected his team's performance. The visiting side could complete only one shootout on target during the additional time in the first half, which could not threaten goalie Nguyen Quoc Thien Esele.

Binh Duong found a way to break through Hoang Anh Gia Lai's thick defence in the second half.

Just four minutes after the break, Huynh Alves Kesley scored for the host during a counter-attack.

The Brazilian-origin player made his double just 15 minutes later, after he tore Hoang Anh Gia Lai's defence into pieces and defeated keeper Bassey Akpan.

The visitors pushed their team up and narrowed the score at the 75th with a goal by Le Hoang Thien, but it was all they could do.

Just five minutes later, Dieng Cheikh Abass marked his name in the score board with a straight shot.

It was the second win of the hosts over Hoang Anh Gia Lai within one week.

Earlier last week, they won 4-1 in the V-League Round 20 match. In the other semi-final match, Hoang Dinh Tung of the hosts Hai Phong pocketed a double with the opening goal at the 17th minute. His second goal was 15 minute into the second half, followed by Nguyen Quang Hai's goal at the 77th.

Dong Tam Long An, who were promised VND300 million (US$14,300) for a win, saw one goal sail by in the first minute of the second half by Nigerian striker Ganiyu Bolayi Oseni.

The final of the National Cup will be organised on August 17 with the home advantage going to Hai Phong.
