The friendly was organised with the support of the Embassy of Japan in Vietnam, the Binh Duong Province People's Committee and the Vietnam Football Federation.

The match was held to celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan in 2023.

The match was prominently attended by Japanese Ambassador Yamada Takio, Vice President of VFF Tran Anh Tu, and President of Kawasaki Frontale Club Yoshida Akihiro.

Kawasaki Frontale is one of Japan's strongest teams, having won four of the past five domestic seasons.

The reigning J-League runner-up did not bring its strongest squad due to World Cup 2022.

On the other side, Tien Linh could not play the match due to injury. Binh Duong also entered the match with a young squad as the match took place only one day after the last round of V.League-1 against Saigon FC.

The match was the first time Binh Duong FC introduced its two new signings, Rimario and Moses.

With better players, the Japanese team easily took control of the game, and in the 36th minute the visitors opened the scoring thanks to Takahashi Yuto.

The Japanese defender broke through from the left side and took a powerful shot to put the ball in the net.

In the second half, the players from Japan continued to play better, creating many opportunities to score goals against Binh Duong.

Despite their best efforts trying to defend, the host's defenders could not resist the opponent's attacks. In the 83rd minute, from a corner, Mayagi Ten put the ball into the net.

The match ended with two goals for the guests.
