VietNamNet Bridge – After the representative of Nigerian striker Joseph Nwafor threatened to lodge a complaint against Binh Duong FC to the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), the FC had to pay $18,000 to this striker.

In early 2011, Binh Duong inked a “shocked” deal. Under the contract, the FC had to pay $150,000 of transfer fee and $200,000 of annual wages to have Nwafor. According to Jasper Echue, Nwafor’s representative, the Nigerian striker had played for famous FCs like Panathinakkos and AEK.

According to Binh Duong FC’s representative, in the deal, there was a clause that the FC keeps $25,000 as “deposit”, just in case the player fails to meet their criteria.

As Nwafor did not meet the club’s expectation, the FC put an end to the contract with him by the end of the 2011 football season.

The FC asked Nwafor’s representative to find another player and if this player meets their standards, the FC would pay the remaining $25,000. However, this player also failed to meet Binh Duong’s standards.

Director of Binh Duong Football JS Company, Doan Van Ut, said on February 23, that the FC paid $18,000 to Nwafor’s representative and Nwafor agreed with the sum.
