VietNamNet Bridge – A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on collaboration in education and training has been signed by Binh Duong-based Eastern International University (EIU), South Korea’s Chung Nam National University, and 19 universities in Vietnam and the World Technopolis Association (WTA) community.

The MoU was signed at the 10th WTA University Presidents’ Forum as part of the 2018 WTA Summit 2018.

The MoU is expected to enhance collaboration in exchanging human resources, and researching and dealing with practical matters in education and training between the universities and WTA members. 

The signing ceremony was followed by discussions on development strategies in the southern province of Binh Duong to attract more foreign direct investment and improve scientific, technological and human resource development.

Nguyen Van Phuc, president of EIU, said that Binh Duong would become a smart city in Vietnam with the collaboration of the government, businesses and universities. 

Used by Binh Duong, the Triple Helix Model copes with different forms of university-industry-government interaction. It reacts on the rising uncertainty in society, which are the results of developments towards a knowledge society.

“Under the model, universities and an interactive government play important roles,” he said. 

The WTA University Presidents’ Forum featured heads of universities who spoke about measures to increase the role of universities in research and development, better cooperation between industry and academia, and start-up ecosystems. 

The 10th WTA University Presidents’ Forum was held by EIU and Chung Nam National University celebrated the 20th anniversary of WTA.
