VietNamNet Bridge –Nigerian striker Udo Fortune will undergo a health check today with a view to signing with Binh Duong, the football club said yesterday, Aug 9.
Binh Duong, who won the national football championship V-League in 2007 and 2008, plan give the squad a face-lift for their third title tilt next year.
Fortune, 23, who scored 34 goals to help Persiba Bantul win the Liga Indonesia Premier Division in 2010-11, will undergo the health test at Binh Duong training centre.
Last month, he had a 30-minute training session with the team on his first visit to Viet Nam.
If the Nigerian striker passes the examination, he will be the fourth foreign player in the southern team line-up in preparation for the Vietnamese football championship.
Early this year, the team recruited Dutchman Danny Van Bakel, Brazilian maestro Leandro De Olivera and South African-born Kubheka Philani.
The team have a clutch of national team members Nguyen Vu Phong, Huynh Quang Thanh, Nguyen Anh Duc, Nguyen Huu Thang and American-Vietnamese Lee Nguyen.
The two-time champions currently rank fourth in V-League with 35 points and failed to win the championship this year.
