A video capturing the moment the children organized a birthday for their mother during their father’s funeral has drawn special attention from netizens in recent days.

In the solemn atmosphere of the funeral, the children and grandchildren gave a birthday cake and sang happy birthday to their mother. At the moment of blowing out the candles and making a wish, the mother could not hold back her tears. The pain of losing her life partner mixed with the special emotion of turning a new age left the mother overwhelmed.

Netizens left many moving comments under the video: "Emotions are truly mixed witnessing the scene of children wearing funeral robes and white headbands singing happy birthday to their mother during their father's funeral"; "I cried, cried because I miss my dad so much! I think, with the love of the children and grandchildren, all wishes will come to the mother in the warmest way possible".

The person who posted the moving video is Huynh Nhu (born in 1998, My Tho ward, Dong Thap province).

Huynh Nhu is the daughter-in-law of Thanh Nguyet, 65 years old, the mother in the video.

She told VietNamNet that her parents-in-law have 4 children (2 sons, 2 daughters), and her husband is the third son in the family. All of them have settled down with their own families.  Her father-in-law passed away on June 18 after a 1-year battle with colorectal cancer. And the very next day was her mother-in-law's birthday.

Even though the sons and daughters-in-law were busy taking care of their father's funeral to see him off on his final journey, they did not forget their mother's birthday. On the morning of June 19, Huynh Nhu prepared a cake and birthday candles. On the evening of the same day, she and her siblings in the family organized a simple birthday for their mother.

“Though we couldn't organize a joyful birthday party for mother like every other year, we still wanted to do something to express our love and gratitude to her.  We hope mother stays healthy and peaceful to overcome this loss,” Nhu said.

Nguyet was deeply moved by her children's affection. After blowing out the birthday candles, she told her children and grandchildren: “I hope that in the future, I can also pass away peacefully like your father. Before passing away, your father accomplished what he wanted”.

Huynh Nhu recounted that a year ago, her father-in-law was diagnosed with colorectal cancer with a poor prognosis. However, he tried to live positively to stay with his wife, children, and family for longer.  “During the entire time, mother and we took devoted care of father, and father also accomplished what he wanted, so he passed away peacefully without any regrets.
