The disease has spread rapidly. Initially local doctors determined that they caught hepatitis but only eight of the 63 samples are identified with hepatitis type A.
The first patient was reported about 20 days ago. All patients are residents of the two communes of Ya Chim and Dak Nang. Up to 59 people live in the villages of Lam Tung, Nghia An, Tan An, Ruan of Ya Chim commune and the remaining are people of Gia Hoi and Ngo Thanh village in Dak Nang commune.
The Preventive Medicine Center of Kon Tum sent the samples to some big hospitals for testing to identify the causative agent. The local health sector also sprayed chemicals for disinfection and urged local people to use safe food and ensure environment hygiene to prevent disease spreading.
