A blast occurred at a three-storey house in Vĩnh Phúc Province on Tuesday morning, injuring seven people in what a suspected gas explosion. 

The site of the incident was a shophouse on the first floor of the City Light Building on Nguyễn Tất Thành Street in Vĩnh Yên City, and has been under renovation to be open as a Korean-style BBQ restaurant. 

At the time of the incident, four construction workers were inside, along with one guard and two South Korean nationals. 

All of the injured have been taken to Vĩnh Phúc Provincial General Hospital for treatment. 

There are several gas cylinders on the scene, while numerous pieces of debris and furniture are scattered in the surrounding area after the loud blast.

The explosion also shattered and fractured the glass doors and windows of the adjacent stores on the same floor of the building.

“There was a loud blast but the cause of the incident has not yet been determined, as gas cylinders are unlikely to create such an explosion,” Nguyễn Việt Phương, chairman of Vĩnh Yên City People’s Committee told VTC News. 

Authorities have arrived at the scene and investigations are ongoing. — VNS
