VietNamNet Bridge – The well-known blind Japanese pianist, Nobuyuki Tsujii, will give solo piano performances in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City on June 19 and 21, respectively.

The concerts are part of a series of events to mark 40 years of Vietnam-Japan diplmatic ties and they will be broadcast by Vietnam Television (VTV).

Twenty five year-old Tsujii is one of most talented pianists and composers in Japan. He began to learn the piano at the age of two and, five years later, won first prize for his performance at the All Japan Blind Students competition.

He made his debut with the Osaka Philharmonic Orchestra when he was 10 years old and later became the first blind Japanese artist to win a gold medal at the 13th Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in Texas, USA.

In addition to Tsujii’s concerts, astronaut candidate Noguchi Soichi from the National Space Development Agency of Japan and Lieutenant General Pham Tuan, the first Vietnamese astronaut, will have an exchange with young Vietnamese people as part of the diplomatic ties anniversary celebrations.

Ho Kien, a Vietnam Television (VTV) official said VTV will co-ordinate with the Tokyo Broadcasting System (TBS) to air 100 films about Japan and its people.

A Japan Day will be held at the Melia hotel in Hanoi on June 18 and the Sheraton hotel in HCM City on June 20. The event will feature traditional Japanese food and culture as well as ENKA dance and Kimono fashion show.
