Extinct volcano Chu Dang Ya in Chu Pah district, the central highland province of Gia Lai is seen as a new destination for visitors fond of contemplating wild sunflowers in full bloom.
Chu Dang Ya volcano, with a funnel-shaped crater, has been inactive for millions of years and lies in the imposing green forests. It is around 30km from Pleiku City. Since November wild sunflowers have blossomed in every corners of Chu Dang Ya. Subsidiary crops like pumpkin, sweet potato and edible canna are grown on Chu Dang Ya mountain side.
