VietNamNet Bridge - The accident happened on Ha Long Bay, Quang Ninh province, on the afternoon of October 3, killing five Taiwanese tourists, including a little girl.



The victims were taken from the scene.


The incident occurred at about 3.30pm. A small boat that was carrying 18 passengers from Sung Sot Cave to the tourist boat Paradise QN-6688 colling with vessel East Room QN-1402. The force of impact was so strong that the small boat was capsized and sank, taking all 18 tourists.

Rescuers went to the scene very quickly but they could rescue only 13 people. The remaining five people died.

According to preliminary information, all 18 passengers in distress are Taiwanese (China).

Mr. Dang Huy Hau, Vice Chairman of Quang Ninh province, said that by 4.30pm the same day, the rescue force found five victims, including four adults (one male, three female) and a nine-year-old girl.

The bodies of the victims were taken to the Bai Chay hospital. The 13 survivors were taken to a safe place to rest.

All 36 tourists on board of the Paradise QN-6688 (including 18 people in distress) are visitors of the Smile Viet tourism company (based in Hanoi).

Currently, the authorities are investigating the cause of the incident.
