Bocuse d’Or, the world-class cuisine competition,launched its first Vietnam contest at the Residence of France in HCM City on March 1.
Five teams comprising the top chefs in the country will compete in the Bocuse d’Or Vietnam at the School of Hospitality Professionals on March 10.
The winning team will represent Viet Nam at the Bocuse d’Or Asia-Pacific on May 8 and 9 at in Guangzhou, China.
The top five chefs will go on to represent their countries in the Grand Finale of the Bocuse d’Or to be held on January 29 and 30 next year as part of the Sirha Lyon France trade exhibition.
Bocuse d’Or, named after famous French chef Paul Bocuse, is not only an arena for the world’s top chefs, but also an innovative stage for the fusion of global culinary cultures.
Every two years the Grand Finale is held in Lyon in France.
The jury for the Vietnam contest comprises Sakal Phoeung, a French executive chef with more than 25 years of experience in luxury hotels and upscale restaurants, Frédéric Janault, founder of the Fruits & Vegetables Academy of France and the Europe Champion of arts on Fruits & Vegetables, Thierry Drapeau, 2-star Michelin chef, and Nguyen Khac Huy, first prize winner at the 2017 Best Sommelier in French Wine Contest. — VNS
