Authorities in Gia Lai Province are investigating the discovery of a charred body at a cemetery in Dien Hong Ward, Pleiku City (formerly known as old Pleiku Cemetery).

According to initial reports, around 2:10 p.m. on December 24, local residents noticed a body burned almost entirely, leaving only the legs intact, near a group of graves inside the cemetery.

At the scene, police found a blue motorbike with license plate number 81B1..., but no identification papers or personal documents were recovered, leaving the victim’s identity and gender still unknown.

Upon receiving the report, Dien Hong Ward Police quickly secured the scene and took witness statements.

They then reported the incident to the Criminal Police Division (Region 5) to coordinate efforts in verifying the victim’s identity and background.

The Gia Lai Provincial Police’s Forensic Division also joined the investigation, conducting a scene examination and autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.

Preliminary findings show that the motorcycle belongs to the local Forest Protection Management Board and was under the use of a man identified only as Mr. T. (name changed).

The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to clarify whether the death was the result of self-immolation or foul play.
