‘Travel Predictions 2022’, a survey commissioned by Booking, indicates that tourism will become essential for people to take care of themselves. Eighty six percent of Vietnamese travelers agree that tourism is useful for mental health and emotions than other self-care forms.
In 2022, people not only appreciate the opportunities to rest more than ever but reserve time for traveling to discover new destinations and cultures.
After a long time of living without socializing, traveling and having fun, people will have a more positive way of thinking in 2022. The number of people saying that they need to travel in 2022 to make up for the vacations they missed has increased from 52 percent to 80 percent.
Eight four percent of surveyed people said that they would say ‘yes’ to all opportunities to travel if their budgets are good enough.
According to Saigontourist, domestic travel demand is increasing and clients are individuals, families and businesses. Short-term tours (1-2 day) are booked by families on weekends, including tours to Can Gio, Cu Chi, Ben Tre and Mai Chau.
Meanwhile, businesses book MICE (meeting, incentive, conference, exhibition) tours to Phan Thiet, Nha Trang, Quy Nhon, Da Lat and Phu Quoc. Saigontourist has organized MICE tours to destinations in Vietnam with 13,000 clients. One of them is a tour for 350 clients for three days – March 4-6, 2022.
The travel firm predicted that Vietnamese travelers in 2022-2023 like to visit destinations which remain little known and they tend to stay longer at one place. People tend to travel in small groups and they want more on-site experience.
After Covid-19, travelers choose safe destinations good for their health, and close to nature. They now learn about tours carefully before making decisions, and do not just follow the crowd.
Truong Phuong Thanh, Deputy CEO of Bamboo Airways, said to stimulate demand, travel firms should design combo tours comprised of different tourism products. For example, travelers can have outing, relax and play golf as well. These tours can be offered in both domestic and overseas markets.
Travelers to Thailand and Singapore can book combo tours, which include transport, tourism, golf and accommodation. Meanwhile, services in Vietnam are provided separately.
Luong Hoai Nam, a member of the Tourism Advisory Board (TAB) said that travelers’ tastes have changed after the pandemic. People now prefer traveling in small groups, so there should be diverse combo tours that fit small groups of 6-8 travelers, and families. Combo tours are expected to be the major trend in the time to come.
