Border guards discover heroin traffickers

Three men have been caught transporting heroin in Vietnam.

The trio were arrested with almost five kilograms of the drug, the largest amount ever seized by border guards in Thua Thien-Hue Province.

They are Phan Van Ba, 44, from Da Nang central city, Le Kim Huan, 30, from Da Nang central city and Pham Dang Huy, 39, from Binh Thuan southern province.

The traffickers were caught at about 1.30pm on Sunday at the Lap An Lagoon in Lang Co Town, Phu Loc District when they were stopped in their car. The drugs were discovered hidden in the vehicle.

Meanwhile, a woman has been arrested with more than 5,000 ecstasy tablets.

Ca Thi Huong, 33, from Thuan Chau District was arrested in Son La City, Son La Province on Sunday.

She remains in police custody while police continue investigations. — VNS
