Born in 1997 in Brazil, Nguyen Xuan Son first arrived in Vietnam in early 2020, joining Nam Dinh FC. After playing for Da Nang and Binh Dinh, he returned to Nam Dinh in 2023 to play for Thep Xanh Nam Dinh FC.

In the 2023/2024 season, Xuan Son made history by becoming the top scorer in a single V-League season with 31 goals, contributing more than half of his team’s total goals.

He helped Thep Xanh Nam Dinh win the V-League title and earned several individual accolades, including Top Scorer, Player of the Season, Best Goal, and a spot in the Team of the Season.

"I am very happy. My dream of becoming a Vietnamese citizen has come true. I love this country and will give my best on the field," shared Nguyen Xuan Son after his successful naturalization.

With this development, Nguyen Xuan Son will be eligible to play as a domestic player starting from the second round of the 2024 LPBank V-League, where Nam Dinh will face Quang Nam on September 23 at Thien Truong Stadium.

His successful naturalization not only strengthens Nam Dinh FC but also opens the possibility of him representing Vietnam's national team in the future.
