On the morning of November 17, Mr. Tran Van Luat, Secretary of Son Ha Commune, confirmed that the Nuoc Bao Bridge had been broken in two by floodwaters following a night of heavy rainfall.

According to Mr. Luat, floodwater surged violently from upstream in the early hours, tearing away the bridge abutment and part of its span, leaving a large rupture across the river. The route through the area has been completely cut off. Fortunately, no one was crossing at the time of the incident, so no casualties have been reported.

The Nuoc Bao Bridge is the only connection from the commune center to the villages of Mang Na and Nuoc Bao. Initial figures show that 288 households - about 1,212 residents - are now isolated and unable to access medical care or transport basic supplies.

Local authorities have cordoned off both ends of the bridge, set up warning barriers, and banned residents from entering the hazardous area. Efforts are underway to find a temporary solution to restore transportation access as quickly as possible.

Tornado damages dozens of homes in Quang Ngai

Around 11:45 p.m. on November 16, a powerful tornado accompanied by heavy rain struck the villages of Phuoc Loi and Tan Son in Nguyen Nghiem Commune (Quang Ngai), causing significant property damage. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

Preliminary reports show 21 households were affected. Of those, 7 houses had their roofs completely torn off, 6 were partially damaged, and 8 had roofing tiles, sheets, or bricks ripped away. The storm also toppled two utility poles, damaged nine animal shelters, and brought down many trees.

Immediately after the storm, Nguyen Nghiem Commune Police and local emergency units assisted residents in reinforcing their homes, repairing structures, and moving valuable belongings to safe areas.

In the past 24 hours, many areas in Quang Ngai have experienced moderate to heavy rainfall. The provincial meteorological office has issued warnings of possible flash floods, landslides, and ground subsidence over the next six hours, especially in mountainous regions. These conditions could disrupt traffic and endanger local communities.
