According to police in Nguyen Cu Trinh Ward in District 1, John David Ablett, 44, brandished a knife and demanded money from employees at a convenience store in Nguyen Cu Trinh Ward at 12am.
The man then fled to the September 23 Park in Pham Ngu Lao Ward with the money.
After being informed about the robbery, police from District 1, in co-operation with the ward’s police, chased and arrested the man.

The police seized a knife and VND2.6 million (US$111) in cash.
At the police station, the man said he was wandering the streets with no money, so he chose to rob the convenience store, which was open all night.
