VietNamNet Bridge – Three robes of the Buddha were brought from India’s Kushinagar relics, where the Buddha entered the Nirvana 2589 years ago, to Vietnam on November 9.

The robes will be worn by the world’s largest jade Buddha statue which is about to be completed in Vietnam.

The robes arrived at Hanoi’s Noi Bai International Airport at 2:pm, to a warm welcome from hundreds of Buddhist monks and followers.

The robes are weaved by rare silk. Each robe is 10m long.

They were the coats of the 4m gold-inlaid Buddha statue at the Kushinagar relics.

The processing of the world’s largest jade Buddha statue began in early 2010 in Vietnam, on a jadeite block of 35 tons, 3m high, 2.15m wide and 2.2m thick, by 50 Chinese artisans.

Once the work is completed, the statue will be nearly 20 tons in weight.
