At around 11:35 Monday morning, January 22, passengers at the airport were surprised to see the buffalo on the second floor of Terminal 1.
According to Dao Tuan, a witness, urgently reported the case to the airport security staff. Then security came to drive the buffalo away.
The buffalo seemed to have entered the airport through a road ascending the incline for cars linking Vo Nguyen Giap Street and the departure gate.
Noi Bai International Airport has been designed to have barriers on all sides to prevent animal penetration. But no barrier exists between the access road from Vo Nguyen Giap Street to Terminal 1.
Earlier, security officers at the airport saw monkeys and dogs near the airport fence.
The airport is situated near five communes of Soc Son District which specialises in farming. The airport management board has conducted activities to raise local awareness of activities such as flying kites, balloons, drones, burning straw, and livestock management to help ensure flight safety.
