The festival was organized by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Radio and Television Station of An Giang province and Tri Ton District People's Committee on the occasion of the Sene Dolta (grandparents worship ceremony) of the Khmer people.

This year's Bay Nui bull racing festival had the participation of 56 pairs of cows from the districts of Tri Ton, Thoai Son, Chau Phu, Chau Thanh, Tinh Bien town (An Giang) and pairs of cows from Giang Thanh district of Kien Giang province.

The annual festival has become a convergence of unique cultural features of the Seven Mountains region of An Giang province, thereby contributing to preserving and promoting cultural identity and building national solidarity; creating a joyful and exciting atmosphere on the occasion of Sene Dolta festival of the Khmer people, contributing to promoting the image of Bay Nui bull racing to people in the country and the world.

The bull racing festival not only demonstrates the traditional cultural beauty and humanity of the Khmer people in Bay Nui area of An Giang, but is also a meaningful sports and entertainment playground for Khmer farmers after hours of hard labor in the fields.

The bulls participating in the competition are cared for by the bull owners, using their own secrets. The "Bull Riders" have been engrossed in training for many months to be able to win the highest prize.

Before the race, bull owners draw lots to choose the pair of cows to go first and last. Normally, the following pair has the upper hand. During the race, if any pair of bulls runs off the track, or the following pair of bulls steps on the harrow (a wooden board 30cm wide, 90cm long) of the preceding pair of cows will be disqualified. But when it comes to the next round, the pair of cows running behind only needs to step on the previous pair's harrowing to win. The bull controller must stand firmly and if he falls or falls out of the harrow during the race, he will be considered a loser.

Entering the competition, two pairs of bulls will compete in the format of two rounds. The winner will advance to the next round of competition. The pair of bulls that win the championship must participate in all rounds of competition and win all of them.

This year, besides the Bay Nui Bull Racing Festival, the district also organizes cultural programs, exhibition activities to promotes the images of the locality and the province, and organizes folk games of the Khmer people.
