Buon Ma Thuot Airport

According to the proposal from local authorities sent to the Ministry of Transport, they would call for investment from the private sector for the upgrade, which is expected to boost tourism and services relating to the region’s focus on coffee cultivation.

"We want to receive more international visitors and develop Dak Lak into a globally famous coffee city," the committee said. "We'll build a detailed plan soon to send to the transport ministry and the government about the airport expansion and upgrade project."

Buon Ma Thuot Airport currently operates as a domestic airport with a capacity of serving two million passengers annually using A320, A321, and B737 aircraft. The airport is expected to serve 1.40 million passengers this year.

The Ministry of Transport had earlier planned to expand the airport to double its current area, to 464 hectares, and increase its capacity of serving five million passengers annually by 2030.
