Following the initial period, the standard monthly fare will be VND200,000 (US$8). A 50 per cent discount will be available for students and industrial workers.
Bus companies in Hanoi may have to close some routes if a plan to subsidise public transport is not settled on time.
All bus routes in Hanoi have resumed operation from May 4, but each bus must not have more than 30 people on board, including passengers, drivers and conductors, according to the city's Department of Transport.
The Hanoi Transport Service Corporation (Transerco) resumed operations of 104 bus routes on April 23 after the capital city began easing social distancing.
Buses lines have covered 100% of Hanoi’s districts, reached 100% of the city’s schools, 86% of industrial parks and 90% of urban areas in the capital.
VietNamNet Bridge – Major changes in the bus routes from the capital are to go into effect on January 2, said the deputy director of the city’s Transport Department, Ha Huy Quang. The changes are intended to reduce congestion.
