Mr. Nguyen Quoc Duong in An Xuyen commune, Ca Mau City said that a small crocodile of 0.4kg was caught in his net in a canal in Tan Thoi hamlet on November 7.

A few days ago, fishermen in An Xuyen commune also found two baby crocodiles which are as big as the wrist in their nets.

Local people are very worried now. They believe that these are babies of the crocodiles that escaped from the Quoc Viet crocodile farm in Dinh Binh, Ca Mau City nearly a month ago.

Mr. Phan Hung Dung, an official of the Ca Mau Forest Protection Agency, said all escaped crocodiles of Quoc Viet farm have been caught. He confirmed that that the baby crocodiles in canals could not come from this farm.

"Mother crocodiles lay their eggs on land. The eggs only hatch after two months so the baby crocodiles could not belong to Quoc Viet farm. Moreover, crocodiles cannot live in the saltwater in Ca Mau for a long time," Dung said.
