The Ca Mau People's Committee has announced that the second “Ca Mau Crab Festival 2025,” themed “Ca Mau crab: forest aroma – sea flavor,” will take place from November 16 to 22. This large-scale event is aimed at honoring the province’s iconic seafood, boosting its brand identity, and promoting sustainable economic and tourism development.

According to Vice Chairman Le Van Su, the festival will feature a diverse lineup of activities, including exhibitions, trade showcases, professional forums, seminars, and unique cultural, sports, and tourism events. These aim to highlight Ca Mau’s rich culinary traditions and OCOP-certified products.

The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ca Mau said preparations are being finalized for several events, including the Southern Amateur Music Festival, a culinary space featuring crab dishes, guided tourism routes, and the Ca Mau Marathon 2025.

Notably, a kickoff event titled “Hello Ca Mau” will be held in Ho Chi Minh City from November 13 to 15, expected to generate strong interest and momentum ahead of the festival.

Le Van Su stated that the festival not only honors a key local product but also reflects the province’s long-term vision for sustainable development and international integration. Through this event, Ca Mau hopes to assert its brand, spread cultural value, and elevate the status of the crab  -  a proud symbol of the southernmost province of Vietnam.

In Ca Mau, the crab ranks just behind shrimp as the province’s most important aquaculture product. It has already been granted a geographical indication certificate, a crucial legal tool for managing and promoting the brand in both domestic and international markets.

With favorable soil and water conditions, Ca Mau had 252,000 hectares of crab farming in 2024, producing more than 25,200 tons. The province is aiming to become the largest crab-farming hub in Vietnam, targeting an output of approximately 40,000 tons by 2030.

To realize this goal, securing stable markets is essential. Recently, nearly 20 cooperatives signed crab purchasing agreements with Thanh Nien Global Trading Corporation  -  a strategic step toward expanding into major export markets like China and Singapore, while gradually building a complete supply chain for the crab industry.

In addition to its economic value, the 2025 Ca Mau Crab Festival will help define the region’s tourism brand as peaceful and environmentally harmonious. Ca Mau is home to nearly 150,000 hectares of forest, designated by UNESCO as a World Biosphere Reserve, along with attractions such as the Ca Mau Cape National Tourist Area and U Minh Ha National Park. These resources form a strong foundation for developing unique and non-replicable tourism products that can attract both domestic and international visitors.
