The Ministry of Transport (MoT) has issued a directive to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) regarding the early retirement request of its Chief, Dinh Viet Thang.
Previously, the Ministry received an early retirement application from Thang, dated December 9, 2024. In his application, Mr. Thang cited health reasons as the basis for his request.
To proceed with consideration, the Minister of Transport instructed the leadership and party committee of the CAAV to provide written feedback regarding Mr. Thang’s request. Additionally, Mr. Thang was asked to submit relevant documentation and certifications of his reduced working capacity, as required by regulatory authorities. The Ministry has set a deadline of December 16, 2024, for the submission of these documents.
Mr. Dinh Viet Thang has served as Chief of the CAAV since June 2017, succeeding Lai Xuan Thanh. Before assuming his current position, he was Chairman of the Members’ Council at the Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation.
Born in 1965, Mr. Thang graduated with a degree in air traffic management from the former Soviet Union. He later pursued a master’s degree in business administration in Belgium and is fluent in both English and Russian. Prior to his appointment as Chief of the CAAV, he held the role of Deputy Chief of the same authority.
