Vietnam, Cambodia boost legislative ties

President of the Cambodian National Assembly (NA) Heng Samrin and NA Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung.
During his stay from July 20-27, the top Cambodian legislator held talks with NA Chairman Hung and met with Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, State President Truong Tan Sang, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung and President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Huynh Dam.

At the meetings, the two countries’ leaders expressed their delight at the fine developments of traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation, affirming that they always attach great importance to strengthening Vietnam-Cambodia relations for mutual benefit and for the sake of peace, cooperation and development in the region and in the world.

They agreed to promote cooperation and the exchange of information and experience between their respective NAs to contribute to the two countries’ mutual development.

The two NA leaders signed a cooperation agreement between their legislative bodies under which the two NAs will build a cooperation programme and identify specific areas and sectors that require further attention to ensure their ongoing usefulness and efficiency.

The two sides agreed to intensify exchange visits of delegations between their NA committees and departments and organize seminars on issues of common concern.

On the occasion, Mr Samrin and his entourage toured Ho Chi Minh City and laid wreaths at the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum in Hanoi
The Cambodian delegation also visited Ha Long Bay in the northern province of Quang Ninh before departing for their home country.

Vietnam, Cambodia strengthen defence cooperation

The Vietnamese Government, people and army always treasure the solidarity and friendship between Vietnam and Cambodia.

The Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Vo Van Tuan made the remarks while receiving the visiting the Commander of Cambodian Royal Air Defence Force, General Un Navi in Hanoi on July 25.

Tuan expressed his delight at the effective cooperation in national defence between the two countries, which significantly contributes to tightening the friendship between Vietnam and Cambodia and their armies.

Un Navi briefed his host on the working results between his delegation and the Command of the Vietnam Air Defence Force, adding that the visit is a great chance for the two air defence forces to exchange experience in their work.
